The Learning Protocol
Do you want to Learn? Maybe even change?

The Learning Protocol? 🤔
How do we make a concerted effort to learn?
How do we make clear strides towards change?
I thought about this recently as another friend of mine has handed in his notice to leave the Marines.
I started to boil down some of the basic principles that you need to learn, grow and inevitably change. Is there some timeless principles that apply to;
A career change
Learning a new role
Transferring skills.
Many of the above in the list all have a few common themes of struggle. One is the language barrier - how do we articulate previous experiences accuracy to show competence in certain domains, for your future roles?
If it’s like for like - you’re golden… but then it would be much of a career change or pivot would it?
Another is learning how to learn - how do we assimilate information and skills to level up our understanding for our future goals.
I intend to deep dive into this topic but below are some basic models you can use - now!
The Learning Model… 📚

Hyper basic… obscenely basic - yet these are foundational pillars of learning.
Focus - Our ability to focus determines almost all outcomes. 💯
Plan - If focus is the vat we collect our pool of knowledge in, then planning is the filtration system to determine how to use it. ✍️
Rest - Is as important as the work itself, perhaps even more so. 💤
How do they work together? 🤔
Focus takes practice - understand the dopamine reward system.
Work systematically and effectively.
Practice different systems for planning.
When you rest - REST.
Commitment at all stages of the process.
Discipline your time.
Seek to find and understand - not just regurgitate.
